The two-day Wadi Degla Festival allows you to explore the beautiful and diverse landscapes of the Wadi Degla Protectorate while promoting conservation and sustainable outdoor sports. A cleanup event will offer a day out in nature for a good cause while Roody 50X 2023 offers upgraded and more challenging courses (53KM, 26KM & 10KM) compared to previous editions, including a new exciting route.

DAY 1: WADI CLEAN UP
Friday 15 September
Time: 9:00 am – 11:00 am
Participants: All ages
Event Includes: Wadi clean-up, fun games for participation prizes, environmental awareness talks
Ticket Price: 250 EGP (All revenue from this event will be used in conservation and sustainable waste minimization for Wadi Degla Protectorate)
*Participants will be provided with trash bags and gloves
DAY 2 : ROODY 50X
Saturday 16 September
Roody 50X is one of the special series races organized by Ultra Ibex. It’s named after Raid Gamal-Eldin, the founder of Wadi Ibex and an avid ultra trail runner. The race caters to beginner and advanced trail runners who can complete and conquer trail running races from 10 to 50 kilometers.
The race includes the following categories: 53 KM, 26 KM, and 10 KM
Race details
Roody 50X is set for September 16, 2023.Start Time
- 53KM Race: 5:00 am
- 26KM Race: 6:00 am
- 10KM Race: 7:00 am
Cut-off Time
The 53KM race will begin first, starting at 5:00 AM and ending at 3:00 PM. Participants are required to complete the race within 10 hours. The 26KM will follow, starting at 6:00 AM and ending at 11:00 AM. Participants are required to complete the race within 5 hours.
- 53KM: 10 hours
- 26KM: 5 hours
- 10KM: 2 hours
Check Points
Checkpoints (CPs) will be available along each race route to support the runners and to provide water. The 53KM race will have 7 checkpoints, while the 26KM will have 3. All participants must enter each checkpoint. It’s at these checkpoints that Ultra Ibex will be made aware of any runner who needs help or assistance during the Wadi Delga Trail series.
Elevation Gain
The elevation gain for all races is suitable for people of most ages who have a good fitness level and are in a good health condition.
- 53KM Race: + 800 m
- 26KM Race: + 450 m
- 10KM Race: + 200 m
Location
Roody 50X 2023 takes place at Wadi Degla Protectorate. Runners will access the race venue and race start through the Wadi Degla Protectorate Gate on Sukhna Road which is the access to the Protectorate’s visitor center. This is the exact location of the gate.
Terrain
Complementing the difficulty of the elevation, Roody 50X’s terrain features 70% hard dirt trails and 30% sandy and rocky areas. The uneven terrain will present exciting challenges, making Roody 50X 2023 a versatile trail running competition for all.
